The delay in starting Curriculum Enrichment Activities (AEC) in the municipality of Faro it has already arrived at the Assembly of the Republic, at the initiative of the Parliamentary Group of the PCP, which questioned the Government about the reasons for the delay in the beginning of these complementary classes for children attending the 1st cycle “in order to ascertain responsibilities and demand a quick resolution of the problem".

For the communists, this delay "causes obvious damage to students and serious inconvenience to parents and guardians." A situation that the Chamber of Faro took on, in a statement sent to newsrooms on Monday, announcing that it has decided to delegate to the Parent Associations of the different 1st cycle schools the responsibility of hiring the necessary teachers, in order to streamline the process. The delay, on the other hand, is due, “above all, to the restrictions imposed by the Law of Commitments”, justified the municipality of Faro.

«Also in the 2011/12 school year, the beginning of the AEC in schools in the municipality of Faro suffered considerable delays and, at the time, the City Council of Faro held the Ministry of Finance responsible for the delay and the Ministry of Finance, for its part, held the City Council responsible for Faro», recalled the PCP.

«This school year, the mistakes of the past are repeated and who suffers, once again, from the negligence of the City Council of Faro and of the Government are the students and their parents and guardians», also accused the communists.
