The English parachutist, who this Saturday lost control during a jump and ended up falling in an uncertain place, was found lifeless by the authorities, two kilometers from the Alvor Aerodrome, in a forest area near Abicada, in Portimão.

Jonathon Wickham's body was found this morning at around 9:30 am by a GNR team accompanied by the tracking dogs.

The man, a 44-year-old English resident of Odiáxere, was an experienced paratrooper.

Witnesses said that the parachute did not open during the flight and that the safety device that automatically opens the reserve parachute did not work either.

The jump that ended with the parachutist's death had been made early Saturday afternoon as part of a international meeting of the sport, which is taking place at the Portimão Aerodrome. A source from the GNR said that the man was part of a group of 17 paratroopers, who, on Saturday afternoon, performed jumps from a height of 15 thousand feet.

Although there is no evidence of crime, the body of the British parachutist will now be autopsied.
