CCDR Algarve agrees a joint strategy to prepare the next round of community aid

The Algarve's Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR) invited the municipalities, business associations (ACRAL, AECOPS, AHETA, AIHSA, ANJE, CEAL, NERA) and the University for a working partnership, in preparation for the next period of programming of Community aid.

This partnership, in a work that will be coordinated by CCDR Algarve, aims to define a sustained diagnosis in the reality of the Region and to substantiate proposals and identify priorities capable of assuming adequate solutions to the Region's needs.

In this context, the president of CCDR Algarve and manager of PO Algarve 21 – Algarve Regional Operational Program, David Santos, on October 12th, at 9:15 am, signs a set of protocols with AMAL, sectorial and business associations and with University of Algarve, at the headquarters of CCDR Algarve, in Faro, followed by a press conference.

The objective is, «within a logic of participation, communion and sharing, to define the strategy for the future of the region and to anticipate the priorities and guidelines, strengthening the lobby and the defense of regional interests».

The CCDRA stresses that «the programming of the next cycle of Community Funds is, in the current context, of particular relevance for the Algarve Region».

In this context, «the definition of a Regional Strategy for the period 2014-2020, implies the committed involvement of all, in order to guarantee an in-depth reflection on the reality and on the strategies to be followed in terms of economic, social and territorial development of the Algarve».

The signing of these protocols is followed by a debate session on “Strategy 2020 and its implementation at a regional level”, in order to mark the beginning of the public debate on the Europe 2020 strategy and its financing instruments for the future of the Region in the post period. 2013.

With the dual objective of providing the Algarve Region with relevant information on the preparation of the future architecture of these policies and its budget, in the period 2014-2020, and stimulating public debate on the future design of regional development policies, this event brings together those responsible for the European Parliament, Portuguese MEPs, presidents of the CCDR and AMAL, rector of the University of Algarve, the coordinator of the QREN Observatory, among others, with around a hundred participants expected, from various institutional, economic and social sectors.

The session will also present the fundamental principles of the initiative “The values ​​of the European Union”, promoted by the Center Europe Direct based at CCDR Algarve, and scenarios of continuity or change proposed for the next generation of cohesion policies in the Algarve Region.

Throughout the day, community policies related to Competitiveness and Cohesion, Innovation, Science and Education, Environment, Energy will also be discussed and the latest newsletter will be distributed within the scope of the monitoring of Regional Dynamics, a regular edition developed by the Regional Dynamics Observatory. CCDR.
