The exhibition “Rugs from Morocco – A grammar of sounds and silences” has been on display since the 30th of September at the Casa da Cultura Islâmica e Mediterrânica, in Silves.

The exhibition, promoted by the Municipality of Silves, the Al Mouatamid Ibn Abbad Association and the Honorary Consulate of the Kingdom of Morocco, can be visited from Monday to Friday, from 10:00 am to 13:00 pm and from 14:00 pm to 18:00 pm.

The exhibition, which aims to present the plurality of rugs produced in the various regions of the Kingdom of Morocco and their diversity, is divided into five main areas: “Rbatis” rugs, Middle Atlas rugs, Wool Art, Upper rugs Atlas and rugs from the Haouz of Marrakesh.

The goal is to take the audience on a journey that seeks to convey the sense and silent message that each rug has in its diversity motifs, some geometric, others abstract, with animal or plant representation, among others.

Admission is free.
