The Left Block of Loulé speaks of «pressure and counter-pressure, even between people from the same party, the PSD», before the vote in the Municipal Assembly on the proposal for aggregation of the parishes of Querença, Tor and Benafim and considered, in a statement, that the legitimacy of the entire process “is wounded by the poor listening to the population”.

«The PSD/CDS majority, which rolls over the country, also in Loulé expressed the free expression and will of the populations. It pushed the parishes towards the choice of the lesser evil, without allowing time for an in-depth debate on the advantages and disadvantages of aggregation. This law is bad, very bad, and that is why we can only demand its repeal!», considered the blockists.

Accusing the executive of starting the process late "on purpose", the BE regretted that there has not been a preliminary rejection of the law by AM Loulétana. On the other hand, he defended that there should be an in-depth discussion process, involving the population, something that, he accused, the autarchy did not want to happen.

«Rejecting the timely participation of the populations and the referendum – a proposal presented at the time by the BE in February of this year and rejected by the PSD/CDS – with the argument that we live in a representative system, the City Council approved at the end of September, as it was responsible for , a proposal for the aggregation of parishes (in which Querença and Tor should be added to São Sebastião), with the purpose of submitting it to the Municipal Assembly just a week later. Certainly to prevent the populations from knowing about it», accused the Bloc.

«Due to pressure from the BE and the remaining opposition, it was possible to postpone this pronouncement by the AM by 9 days, allowing Parish Assemblies to be held in Querença and in Tor, widely attended by the population, which rejected the Chamber's proposal and approved the union between them and with the parish of Benafim», said the Bloco. A process that was not repeated in Benafim, due to lack of time, despite this being one of the affected parishes.

In the parish assemblies that took place, BE said that he said “his joy at finally taking the first steps in the right direction, discussing possible aggregations with the participation of the populations, but that there could not be a forced decision by any parish. ».

“The Bloc voted against because it is totally against this process of administrative reorganization, which does not take into account the characteristics of the parishes or the will of the populations”, he concluded.
