The Al-Portel Association (Association for the Defense of the Environment and Cultural Heritage of S. Brás de Alportel) will celebrate its 10th anniversary on October 12th and has prepared a program of activities that will fill the weekend of 13th and 14th of October. One of the highlights will be the dinner commemorating the ten years of existence, which will take place on Saturday.
To whet your appetite for a meal, there's nothing like a trip with a hint of adventure. At 9 am on Saturday, a treasure hunt will take place in the center of Alportel, where participants are invited to discover this typical village, its history and the beautiful landscape that surrounds it. The winners will take home a basket with local products, donated by PROVE.
An activity to participate in teams of 2 to 4 people and that requires registration. Interested parties must register by email and send proof of payment of registration by bank transfer (NIB 0033 0000 4524 7758 68405) to [email protected], until October 10th. The price is 3 euros for members and 5 euros for non-members, «with the right to a t-shirt and a snack at the end of the activity», according to Al-Portel.
At night, there are also delicacies, but those provided by the Fonte da Pedra restaurant, in São Brás de Alportel. Al-Portel's Birthday Dinner will cost 12 euros per person and a registration is also required here, by email [email protected] or by mobile phone 961 656 467, through which payment information can also be obtained of quotas.
On Sunday, October 14, a "conversation about Landscape" will be promoted at the Museu do Trajo Algarvio in São Brás, which will be attended by the regional director of Culture of the Algarve Dália Paulo and landscape architect and university professor Desidério Batista . The debate will focus on “what [the landscape] is, what characterizes it and how it reflects the culture of a people and its relationship with the environment”.
