MPT – Partido da Terra wants the concessionary consortium of the requalification of EN 125 indemnify the Algarve and the Algarve for the 'direct and indirect' damage caused by the suspension of the works. The MPT "calls for the joint efforts of public and private entities in the Algarve", so that there is an exhaustive survey of the losses and the demand for compensation.

The money that might be received “through an adequate legal procedure”, suggests the Earth Party in a press release, could revert “to the constitution of a common guarantee fund capable of allowing the completion of interventions in the event of continued inoperability and failure of PPP renegotiation».

The MPT justifies this request with the «continued and assumed full and unilateral suspension of the renovation works on Estrada Nacional 125 by the concessionary entity Rotas do Algarve Litoral».

"The disturbances on the lane resulting from the suspension of the works continue to cause serious disturbances to car and pedestrian traffic, tourist and residents, as the defective roundabouts, unfinished sections, confusing or non-existent signaling and the absence of any lighting have enhanced and potentiated situations of danger for traffic, being accused of being directly and indirectly responsible for hundreds of road accidents», she accused.

On the other hand, he said the «scenario of abandonment, neglect and incapacity caused by unfinished work seriously damages the image of the region before the millions of tourists who still visit us, reflected in the widespread devaluation of the tourist destination with obvious economic damage to our companies that depend on the sector».

For the MPT, «the damage resulting from the suspension and abandonment of the works is the exclusive responsibility of the concessionary consortium».
