Civic Alliance «Save Faro, com o Coração” accused the regional leaders of PS and PSD of “falsehood” in their most recent statements about the tolls on Via do Infante. "It is postures like these of the PS and the PSD that discredit public life and its representatives", considered the movement, in a statement.
«False, hypocrisy and shamelessness of Engineer António Eusébio, because as vice-president of AMAL he accepted the tolls and the Algarve's PS Deputies have voted against its suspension in the Assembly of the Republic. After being elected leader of the PS Algarve, he demonstrated against it. To be coherent, the PS in Parliament and in AMAL had to take positions head-on against, which they never did. The conduct is playful and trying to make people stupid», accused the alliance.
«Irresponsibility and insensitivity on the part of Engineer Luís Gomes of the PSD, because the economic and social situation in the Algarve is dramatic, he continues to accept the tolls. Instead of coming out against it, he presents himself talking about the crumbs that are exemptions for residents, as if he were defending a great deal, when that doesn't solve anything», he continued.
The movement led by the former mayor of Faro José Vitorino took the opportunity to reaffirm that, in his view, «the only path is the immediate suspension of tolls», promising to intensify the debate on the issue «in the context of the election for Mayor of Faro of Dr. José Vitorino».
The period for extending exemptions in Via do Infante for residents will end at the end of this month of September. Originally, the date of termination of these privileges was set for June 31, but the Government decided to postpone for another three months the decision to end positive discrimination for residents.
