The start of the school year in Faro it is once again marked with a day of tribute to teachers and students, where there is no shortage of prizes. The Teacher Reception Ceremony/Merit Awards for the 2011/2012 academic year will take place on Thursday, September 13, at the School of Health of the University of Algarve, from 18 pm.
In the session, “26 retired teachers and 48 students who distinguished themselves for their performance” will be awarded and this will be the second year in which prizes will be awarded. "The objective is to honor teachers and students with a ceremony to support and encourage the school community in the municipality's educational establishments," revealed the municipality, in a statement.
In the case of teachers, “the intention is to give public recognition to retired teachers who will be individually distinguished during the ceremony”. "It is a fair recognition for a path of life strongly marked by the commitment to the development of their activity and contribution to the improvement of teaching in this county", illustrated the Chamber of Faro.
The distinction given to students, on the other hand, seeks to recognize "the effort of work and the merit in obtaining excellent school results", contemplating students "from all levels of education".
