The municipal executive of Loulé will present this Friday night, in the Municipal Assembly, a proposal for the continuation of the payment of representation expenses to the governing staff, despite having, in recent weeks, withdrawn from the employees with lower salaries «the possibility working overtime,” denounced the Left Block of Loulé.

In a statement, the Blocistas from Loulé said that the measure that will be subject to approval foresees “an expenditure of eight thousand euros a month” and will benefit “heads of division, department directors and municipal directors”. «Certainly 8 euros that he has already saved, with those who live in poverty or on its threshold, despite working daily. They claim that it is legal, but not everything that is legal is fair and legitimate,” they argued.

The funds that employees with lower salaries guaranteed by working overtime "in basic services fundamental to the quality of life of the citizens", such as garbage collection, "were fundamental to achieving, even with great difficulties, to meet the most elementary needs of their families», consider the blockists.

“If there are difficulties, we have to decide how to deal with them, but never at the expense of those who are barely surviving, leaving out those who can make some sacrifices. The Bloc regrets that the local government, close to the citizens, has the same practice as the misgovernment of Lisbon, without ethics, without principles, without any sensitivity and sense of justice», added BE/Loulé.

The blockers have already warned that they will vote against this proposal, although they recognize "that those who earn salaries of 2, 3 or 4 thousand euros will also experience difficulties in the face of the cuts that have been made, given their consumption habits and financial responsibilities assumed'.

"We cannot, however, accept that in times of crisis, also in Loulé by imposition of the local government, injustices are accentuated, in an unspeakable demonstration of social insensitivity towards those who need it most, following in the footsteps of the government of Passos Coelho/ Paulo Portas», they accused.
