The Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDRA) will also join the Investigators' Night, which will take place next Friday at the Ria Shopping, in Olhão and at the Live Science Centers of Faro and Lakes. The public entity will focus its participation on the theme "Renewable Energy in the European context", to enrich the already appealing program of the event.

The motto of CCDRA's participation in this initiative is “Knowledge has no age”, since 2012 marks the European Year of Active Aging and Intergenerational Solidarity.

“In addition to an exhibition of publications, posters and photographs of projects co-financed by the EU in this field, practical activities for all ages will be proposed: solar cooking, construction of a “wind power plant” (windmills), games and pastimes about the theme of the European year and on the 2020 strategy for the environment”, revealed the CCDRA in a statement.

«The public will also be able to contact the scientists present at the gatherings and lectures, from which we highlight “The Solar Oven” (Prof. Celestino Ruivo/UALG) and “The LED lamps: what are they?” (Eng. Hugo Rodrigues/AREAL) and participate in the various activities offered in the exhibitors' space», he said.

The European Researchers' Night is a European Union initiative held once a year and simultaneously in more than 200 cities in 30 countries across Europe. The event is organized, in our region, by the University of Algarve, the Live Science Centers of the Algarve and Ria Shopping.

This annual event aims to bring ordinary citizens closer to the world of science, providing visitors with greater contact with laboratories and research centers, as well as access to information on research projects and programmes, especially those supported by the European Union.
