There are less than two weeks before the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve hosts the World Superbike Championship, which will be held from 21st to 23rd September.

After the last round at the Nurburgring, the race in Portimão will be decisive in the fight for the titles. Max Biaggi (Aprilia) leads in Superbike and Kenan Sofuoglu (Kawasaki) in Supersport.

A weekend of many races, with special emphasis on the participation of Miguel Praia, who will enter the track with a Honda CBR 600 RR, in a circuit he knows so well and where he will want to be successful.

Max Biaggi won the Championship in 2010 and aims to repeat the feat this season, but he is not the only one. The Italian driver is almost ten points ahead of Marco Melandri (BMW), a negligible advantage considering that, by the end of the Championship, there are 100 points at stake. Thus, the results to be achieved in the two races on the Algarve circuit are paramount.

Biaggi and Melandri are the two great candidates for the scepter, but Carlos Checa (Ducati), current champion in title and third placed, can still be mathematically successful.

In Supersport, Kenan Sofuoglu (Kawasaki) can already claim victory in the Algarve. The Turkish driver has a 38 point advantage (198) over second-placed Jalez Cluzel (Honda) with 160.

Fabien Foret (Kawasaki) is third with 144, closely followed by Sam Lowes (Honda) with 141.

Miguel Praia, who returned to the Supersport World Championship last weekend, bets all his credits on this competition.

The Algarve driver, who competed for six seasons in this Championship, reached in Portimão eighth place as the best result. Although he has been away from the competition for several months, he is confident that he will be able to improve this brand.

In addition to the Superbike and Supersport World Championship, the Superstcok 1000 and 600 riders and the Portuguese Superbike and Supersport Championship riders will also enter the track. Eight races in total are scheduled for Sunday, the 23rd.

Tickets are for sale on the website or at the Autódromo do Algarve shop.
