The competition for internationalization in the qualification of small and medium-sized companies is already open, announced today the Association of Commerce and Services of the Algarve (ACRAL).

Bearing in mind that internationalization aims to promote and strengthen the competitiveness of SMEs, ensuring greater orientation of internal products to external demand, selected companies will be able to join the Business Missions benefiting from QREN incentives.

João Rosado, president of ACRAL, says that, «given the critical moment that commerce is going through, we open this candidacy to agri-food production, commerce and distribution companies, to companies linked to the creative, audiovisual and multimedia industries, and to companies in the area of construction and services'.

The director of ACRAL added that "we are betting on the agri-food sector, where typical products of the region are found, such as dried fruits, oranges, arbutus and sausages, considering that this is a strategic sector to boost the region's economy. as well as the gastronomy niche that is complementary to the Tourism segment which in turn is vital for small and medium entrepreneurs in the area of restaurants and similar».

In this sense, ACRAL considers the Regional Directorate for Agriculture and Fisheries, the Regional Directorate for Economy and the Algarve Tourism Association to be “strategic partners in this process. and distributors in the agrifood sector. I take this opportunity to leave my thanks to eng. Fernando Severino, regional director of agriculture, for his personal commitment to us and for having hosted several joint meetings».

Regarding the internationalization process, João Rosado is of the opinion that «the best export we do is the one that our visitors take in their palliative and sensorial memories, and in this sense the gastronomy and nature niches are fundamental for the regional economy. It is our mission to protect and support these Tourism Niches as they are vital to the survival of our members».

In order to ensure the widest possible dissemination, ACRAL is contacting all municipalities in the region and Regional Directorates.

In a first phase, ACRAL is assessing the value of the regional sector and in a second phase, it will proceed with the selection of candidate companies.
