The religious festivals in honor of Nossa Senhora da Orada take place from August 13th to 15th, in Albufeira. It is one of the oldest religious traditions in the region and is already part of the city's tourist attraction.

Former fishing village, the people of Albufeira have a huge devotion to Our Lady, which is very evident in the “ex-votos” that are found in the hermitage of Orada and that illustrate the miracles of the patron saint of fishermen.

The celebrations begin on August 13th, at 19 pm, with the sound of the Ave Marias and fireworks, followed by a Mass at the Chapel of Our Lady and Procession of Candles at 00 pm.

On August 14th, the Festa starts with a dawn of rockets and a festive peal of bells in the Igreja Matriz, at 9:00 am. At 10:00 am, the Chapel opens with an exhibition of Sacred Art alluding to the cult of Nossa Senhora da Orada, in Albufeira, over five centuries.

Visitors can also enjoy an exhibition of works carried out throughout the year by the children of catechesis.

At 18 pm, the Solemn Mass of the Feast of the Assumption of Our Lady takes place, at Ermida da Orada.

The high point of the Commemorations takes place in the late afternoon, at 19 pm, with the traditional Procession in which fishermen, in boats all decorated, transport the image of their patroness to the port of Abrigo.

This is followed by the Blessing of the fishermen and their boats and the return to the Hermitage with a final greeting.

The Party also has an entertainment program, where there are plenty of taverns, in the churchyard of the Ermida, so that visitors can taste the delicious gastronomy of the region. Portuguese music and ethnography complete the poster.

On the 14th, at 21 pm, the Rancho Folclorico de Albufeira will exhibit the customs and traditions of this part of the Algarve, evident in the typical costumes and in the lively dances and songs, examples of which are the roda de roda and the corridinho. The ball ends at 30 pm with the performance of the young Filipa Sousa, on the Capela staircase.

The festivities end on the 15th with the celebration of the Day of the Assumption of Our Lady. The program for this day starts at 10:00 am with a mass at the Igreja Matriz in Albufeira.

At 11:30 am, an outdoor mass takes place at Quinta da Balaia. The celebrations end at 19 pm with the mass of the Assumption of Our Lady at Ermida da Orada.
