The Portimão City Council publicly acknowledged, this Tuesday, the effort being made by the private sector to help the municipality to provide local residents and visitors to practice sport. This is the case of projects such as the Sports Vacation, which has the support of several companies and the Sports area of Praia da Rocha.
Decathlon Portimão's sponsorship of the sports and leisure area next to the main bathing area of Portimão has already allowed «large thousands of visitors of all ages» to practice sports on the beach for free, this summer alone. Here you can practice various sports “such as fitness, yoga/pilates, Latin rhythms or water aerobics, not to mention beach football, beach volleyball, beach tennis and basketball”.
«At the level of municipal projects, another successful example is the Sport Holidays, now in its 22nd edition, which have the support of companies and other entities, which help to reinforce the dynamics of an initiative that is deeply rooted in local society and which every year it moves around 2500 children», stressed the municipality of Portimo.
«Divided into three shifts, which take place between July 2 and August 10, this summer's edition has the invaluable contribution of Marina de Portimão, advertising and marketing company Ultra Imagem and the Ocean Revival Algarve project, which aims to raise awareness among participants for the importance of the artificial reef to be created off Portimão, using four warships that will be sunk a few tens of meters apart, and that will transform an underwater desert into a place full of marine life», revealed the Portimão Chamber.
