Portimonense drew this Sunday with Leixões in Olhão, in the 1st round of the League Cup that launched the 2012/13 season. Portimão's team, playing in a borrowed home, spent much of the game at a disadvantage, but managed to tie the penalty game.

Despite being the first team to create a clear opportunity for a goal, with a shot by Erick hitting the crossbar just beyond the initial whistle, Leixões actually opened the scoring, on 15 minutes, through Patrão.

Portimonense only managed to draw in the second half, with just 13 minutes to go before the end of regular time. Márcio Madeira avoided greater problems for the Algarve team by converting a penalty in the 77th minute.

Portimão's team is part of group C, in this first stage of the Cup that brings together all clubs from the I and II League, along with Leixões, Feirense and Penafiel. Today, Feirense received and beat Penafiel 2-1.

The next round will be played on the 1st of August and the last round of this first phase, where only teams from the II League participate, will be played on the 5th of the same month.
