Portimão already has a new city map installed in 13 billboards in the city, which includes the revolutionary QR Code, a two-dimensional bar code that allows the connection of real world objects with information and services available on the World Wide Web.

The places contemplated for placing the city plan are the following: Largo 1º de Dezembro (garden); Rua Diogo Tomé (in front of Banco Espirito Santo); intersection of Rua 16 de Maio and Rua de Olivença; Av. Infante D. Henrique; Av. S. João de Deus with Rua Mouzinho de Albuquerque; Rua da Hortinha (after the intersection with Rua Diogo Gonçalves); Portimão riverside area (near Clube Naval); Av. 25 de Abril (next to the Municipal Swimming Pools); Av. Infante D. Henrique (after the intersection with Rua Carvalho Araújo); Alameda da Praça da República (Portimão Parish Council side); Estrada da Rocha (corner with Av. Tomás Cabreira); Av. Tomás Cabreira (corner with Rua Engº. Francisco Bívar); and Praça 1º de Maio (corner with Rua Cândido dos Reis).

Read by most mobile phones equipped with a camera, as long as they have a small reading program of their own, the QR Code allows users to take a photo of it, or even point the camera at its stamp, and thus obtain a Web address to access information and services indexed by the barcode.

In addition to this innovation, the map displays the entire area of Portimão and Praia da Rocha and presents photographs and generic information about the main existing attractions, as well as including references to places of interest in the municipality.

With a completely renewed image, the Pedagogical Farm of Portimão, the Algarve International Autodrome, the Alcalar Interpretation Center, the Portimão Arena, the Praia da Rocha Sports Area, the Santa Catarina Fortress, the Portimão Museum stand out. , the Rotunda das Conserveiras, the Manuel Teixeira Gomes Municipal Library, the bandstand, the Paços do Concelho, the Manuel Teixeira Gomes House, the TEMPO – Portimão Municipal Theater, the Colégio Church and the Parish Church of Portimão.

The new city map is a partnership between the Municipality of Portimão, in terms of its Geographic Information Division team, and the municipal company Portimão Urbis.
