Carmim/Prio/Tavira from the Algarve are one of the teams that will compete, from tomorrow until Sunday, in the 35th edition of the Torres Vedras International Grand Prix – Joaquim Agostinho Trophy.

The race starts tomorrow with the prologue, an 8 km Individual Time Trial.

On Friday, the first stage in line takes place between Manique do Intendente and Vimeiro over 184 kilometers. On Saturday, cyclists ride the 10 laps of the traditional Torres Vedras circuit, in a total of 100 kilometres.

Finally, on Sunday, the route comprises 169 kilometers, starting in Atouguia da Baleia and the Carvoeira Wind Farm.

This last shot is even the most complicated, in the way of climbers, with a first class mountain in Montejunto. There are still three other third category counts, and closing the competition is a second category climb installed at the finish line.

The Carmim/Prio/Tavira team will be represented by Ricardo Mestre, Nelson Vitorino, David Livramento, Henrique Casimiro, Alejandro Marque, Samuel Caldeira, Tomás Metcalfe, and Luís Silva.

The victory of the last two editions went to the Algarve group, in 2010 through Cândido Barbosa, and in 2011 through Ricardo Mestre, which, according to sports director Vidal Fitas, “brings added responsibility”.

However, “the main objective of this competition is to understand the physical shape in which the athletes are, and especially to prepare for the Volta a Portugal, since it is the last test before this competition, obviously, if we win in Torres Vedras , better”, concludes Fitas.
