The eighth edition of the International Festival of Theater and Arts in Rua de Tavira “Cenas na Rua” starts on Sunday 8th at 22 pm and runs until July 00th, thus opening the “Summer in Tavira” program.

The program will open on July 8th, with a concert by the Banda Musical de Tavira, in Praça da República, followed by a schedule that presents several shows on the hot nights of “Summer in Tavira”.

Poetic performance “Tobacco Shop” by the Artist's Frame

New circus “Cabaret Elegance” by Els Elegants

Based in Barcelona, ​​this company was created in 2010 by 4 circus artists, 2 Catalans and 2 Brazilians, who came together to create “Els Elegants”, in order to perform circus shows with quality and “elegance”.

Project founded on February 3, 2010 by a group of professionals interested in community theater, inspired and dedicated to the caldeirão mountains, Ao Luar Teatro has as its guiding principles the recovery, affirmation and enhancement of oral tradition, dedicating special attention to customs and Algarve identity with a strong incidence in rural areas.

Multidisciplinary show "Bandstand to Dance" by the Rock da Baixamar Association

The bandstand in the garden of palm trees has a history in the city of Tavira for being a social point, an emblematic space, a stage for ranches, philharmonic bands and others. The Rock da Baixa-mar intends to perpetuate this spirit that the bandstand carries, but bringing it to contemporaneity. The recreation of a disco environment with dance music, taking advantage of the scenery offered by the garden and against the backdrop of the bandstand. In addition to DJ's, several musicians will be invited to perform "live acts" and video projection.

 

Rock da Baixa-Mar has always been a de facto union of several young amateur musicians from the municipality of Tavira who perform concerts since 1993, in 2003 they decided to formalize the group under the name of Associação Cultural Rock da Baixamar

"The liar" by Carlos Goldoni for Teatro ao Largo

Written in 1750, “The Liar” (“Il Bugiardo”) is one of Goldoni's most successful plays. Set in Venice, this elegant and energetic comedy tells the story of a born liar, Lélio, whose romantic adventures become increasingly complicated and absurd as he tries to exploit his lies to three different women. When his web of lies unravels, Lélio falls into disgrace and abandonment.

 

Teatro ao Largo was created in 1994, with the aim of providing a professional theater service in the towns and villages of Baixo Alentejo.

The theater group A Gorda comes from Olhão and has performed several stagings, in a satirical-comic aspect, of the daily life of the Algarve.

"Tell me other fados" by Al-MaSRAH Theater

Tell me other Fados tells and sings the fado.

Not just the song that everyone knows as Portuguese fado, but some of the music that has Arab, African or worldly Iberian influences such as Flamenco, Samba, Morna or Tango, and that sing fado as a synonym for destiny or as a life story.

We packed singing, music, dance and theatre, to set off on a journey through the music of the world and of all of us.

So, silence, let's sing the fados!

 

Coming from Tavira, Al-MaSRAH TEATRO, managed by SONAR – Associação Cultural, aims to create and produce theater shows, in which various methods, forms, philosophies and theatrical and performing arts are promoted, analyzed and worked on.
