Sonae Sierra has completely renovated the Continente Shopping Center in Portimão, in an investment of 5,7 million euros whose main objective was “the modernization and revitalization of interiors”.
The mall, opened 22 years ago, has 59 stores spread over 13.500 square meters of GLA and the new design aimed to create a modern and bright space, through the “recreation of an environment of a cruise ship that is visible in the colors, in the coatings and in the graphics used”.
For the shopping centre, which has an occupancy rate of 98% and an affluence of eight million visits per year, the renovation now completed “allowed its offer to evolve with the entry of new stores such as Trucco, Casa do EME and Imagine jewelery” and also “the reinforcement of services with the Express fittings shop and the Elegance aesthetics centre”.
In catering, Yogurtlândia and Happy Family were introduced – a new concept of sushi with its own room – which are added to the 12 existing restaurant spaces. The upholstered furniture, high stools and counter-type tables stand out in this space, as well as a space dedicated to families – the Kidy's Area equipped with microwaves, bottle warmers and chairs suitable for children.
The Continente Shopping Center in Portimão has six movie theaters with 840 seats and its access area was improved “with the introduction of escalators from the food court, reinforcing the connection between the two spaces, which have high levels of search by visitors”.
