The PS demanded, on Monday, that «the project of the Passeio Ribeirinho de Faro be made public and discussed by the Farenses», at the inauguration of the new Political Committee of the Algarve capital.

The new president of the PS/Faro he also announced that the socialists will “request a meeting to the Polis Society, in order to fully clarify the future of the Polis Program in Faro».

«Given the connection that the Socialist Party has to the Passeio Ribeirinho project and the adhesion of Faro to the Polis program, carried out by José Apolinário, I say that it is time for the Polis Society to present and open a period of public discussion on the Passeio Ribeirinho project, so that the Farenses can comment on it», said the new leader of Farense Socialists, according to a statement sent to newsrooms.

The progress of the Parque Ribeirinho project has been guaranteed not only by the Polis Ria Formosa society, but also by members of the current Government. However, the president of the PS/Faro he is «concerned about the news that reveal the financial drain of the Polis Program, given the silence of the current right-wing majority in the City Council of Faro».

The swearing in of the PS Political Commission bodies in Faro, which took place at Club Farense, also served to announce the creation of the Political and Social Observatory «which already has the participation of more than two dozen figures from the municipality», among which the former UAlg rector Adriano Pimpão, the visual artist Manuel Baptista, the university professor Efigénio Rebelo and the doctor Veloso Gomes. The idea is to guarantee “a PS open to the outside world and identified with the soul and feeling of the people of Faro, based on proximity, commitment and audacity”.

Farenses socialists also announced that the former mayor of Faro João Botelheiro will be the new spokesman for the PS Political Commission Faro.
