Socialist Deputy Miguel Freitas promotes a cycle of meetings to discuss employment in the region

The Algarve deputy of PS Miguel Freitas starts next Monday, June 4th, a cycle of meetings on the theme of employment, meeting, at 11:00 am, with the regional delegate of the Employment and Professional Training Institute.

This first meeting will be followed by meetings with the director of the Regional Center for Social Security, businessmen from the region and mayors, with an action in the municipality of Aljezur, where she will try to find out about the free time occupation program promoted by the City Council , which includes unemployed people who have already lost their right to social protection.

This cycle of meetings begins at a time when the Government admits the possibility of taking to the Social Concertation, the legislative amendment regarding the measure “Estímulo 2012”, following a proposal presented by the PS deputies, Miguel Freitas, Miguel Laranjeiro and Hortense Martins, aiming at the exception in the principle of net job creation, in sectors and regions with seasonal labor needs, such as tourism, in the Algarve.

The proposal presented by socialist parliamentarians to the Ministry of Economy and Employment intends to create conditions for companies in the tourism sector to hire workers for three years, but with intermittent work periods of six months each.

For the deputies, intermittent hiring allows to ensure the worker's permanence in the company for three years, although working only in periods of six months, a model that would be complemented by the training or social protection of the worker, thus adapting the legislation to the concrete conditions of the sector. hotel and Tourism.

In response to the deputies of the PS Parliamentary Group, the Minister of Economy admits the possibility of granting, to certain economic activities, an exception treatment in relation to the concept of net job creation, as well as extending the measure to contracts intermittent, changes that will be discussed in the Social Agreement, after the evaluation of the application of the measure, which runs until August of this year.
