Celina Carpinteiro (BTT Loulé/BPI) and Tiago Ferreira (BTT Seia) won this Sunday in the Marathon of Manteigas, fifth race of the Portuguese Cup of Marathons (XCM) Sport Zone.

The men's race saw the dominance of the viseense Tiago Ferreira, who managed to reach the final isolated, with a 4m41s advantage over the second placed, José Rodrigues (Vitória SC/Bike World). The third was Carlos Gomes (Xyami/Fagor/Nova Vida), at 7m50s.

The women's race was more balanced, deciding only on the finish line. In the sprint, the Algarve's Celina Carpinteiro got the better of Ana Antunes (JP Bike Clube) from Ribatejo. Estonian Marju Kivi (Liveplace by Palegessos/Santiago Bicycles).

The race in the Serra da Estrela region led to a change in the overall ranking of the Men's Cup. The former leader, Rúben Almeida (Saertex Portugal / Bicycles Lavarinhas), did not go beyond the seventh position, ceding the command of the absolute general to Carlos Gomes (Xyami / Fagor / Nova Vida). Ana Antunes, in turn, held the first place in the women's classification.

Despite the defeat in the absolute general, Rúben Almeida maintains the leadership of the elite and under-23. Carlos Gomes is the best veteran A. Fernando Duarte (CSRD Ota/Carbboom/Anipura) was the best veteran B in Manteigas, but José Rosa (Ser and Opinion Team), second, consolidated his leadership in this level.

Adelino Cruz (BTT Seia) won over veterans C, but the triumph was not enough to take the first position from João Marques (BTT Seia). Filipe Fernandes (BTT Seia) beat the rest of the veterans, but Lia Seabra (Galitos/Ciclismo 1904 Slowdown) is still ahead of the overall standings.

BTT Seia triumphed by teams, for the fifth time in five opportunities this season.
