The Municipality of Silves, in partnership with the Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve, promotes a concert by The Quintet on May 18, at 21 pm, at Teatro Mascarenhas Gregório.
This formation is composed by Hugo Alves, Filipe Sequeira, Hugo Santos, Clara Buser and James Mellor.
Filipe Sequeira, graduated in Jazz/drums from ESMAE of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto, is one of the new values of National Jazz. After a year of studies in Belgium, Filipe Sequeira was a student of Michael Lauren, and attends the Master in “performance”.
Hugo Santos was a student of the Hot Club de Portugal, being the double bass player of OJA. Teaches Bass/Bass, Guitar, Solfeggio, Harmony and Combo.
Having been self-taught in his path through Jazz, Hugo studied with several names in world jazz such as Scott Wendholt, Randy Brecker or Frank Tiberi. He founded and directs the Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve, among many other formations he leads.
He also founded AJMMA – Atelier of Jazz and Modern Music of the Algarve, the first institution organized for the teaching of Jazz in the Algarve, with a collective of seven teachers and at four different levels. He participates in several formations, having lately recorded with names like Miguel Martins, Greg Burk, Jorge Moniz among others.
He also teaches at ESMAE – Porto Superior School of Music and Performing Arts, and at ESML – Lisbon Superior School of Music, in subjects such as Trumpet Jazz, Jazz Orchestra, Voice Improvisation, among others.
Admission to this show costs six euros.
