A new screening action for cancer and other skin diseases in the municipality of Alcoutim started this Monday. This is already the fourth phase of an initiative by the Municipality of Alcoutim, which aims to fight misinformation and fight skin cancer.
The screening takes place this week and is being conducted by the dermatologist, Manuela Aguiar, who, voluntarily, like other doctors, has been available to collaborate in the municipality's health actions.
In previous screenings, approximately 1500 people were examined, discovered three dozen skin cancers, urgently referred to the Hospital of Faro, and more than three hundred pre-cancerous lesions (actinic keratoses), which were treated by the dermatologist, with equipment purchased by the municipality of Alcoutim.
