As the monkey likes bananas, the students of the University of Algarve like to have fun in the «País das Maravilhas». Something they can do from this night onwards, at the Penha Sports Complex, in Faro, to the sound of music by José Cid, the headliner for the second day of the Algarve Academic Week.

The Portuguese artist will be preceded on stage by La Plante Mutante and Diego Miranda. At Tenda Eletrónica DJ Hugo Miguel and Mark AP will perform. This is the opening day of the party, after the Opening Serenade that took place yesterday at Largo da Sé and will set the tone for more than a week of revelry.

The poster, despite cost containment, will feature well-known names to the public, such as Xutos e Pontapés, Buraka Som Sistema, Anjos and Steve Aoki.

The 2012 SA will also have a solidarity aspect, with each night being dedicated to a different Private Institution of Social Solidarity (IPSS). This Friday, CASA is awarded, an institution dedicated to helping the homeless.

José Cid will donate a unique and personalized piece, which IPSS Farense will be able to monetize as it sees fit. This is followed by other institutions in the region that are dedicated to helping others, one a night and following the same model in which the headliner of the night before offers a gift.

On the first day of the festival, the steps of the Sé de Faro it was filled with the public, who attended the concert by the Grupo de Serenatas de Coimbra Inversus. Versus Tuna – Academic Tuna of the University of Algarve was also present, as a special guest, participating in the closing song “Balada do 5º Ano Jurídico”. Versus Tuna celebrates in 2012 20 years of existence.
