Ten trainees from the Aesthetic and Hairdressing courses of the Professional Training Center of Faro last Friday they contributed to the well-being of a large group of elderly people, using their professional, personal and social skills.
In an initiative of the Institute of Employment and Professional Training, a social action was held aimed at a very special public, the elderly of Santa Casa da Misericórdia in Faro. During one morning, the trainees underwent haircuts, hairstyles, manicures, pedicures and face treatments. The atmosphere was filled with smiles and a good mood, revealing the satisfaction of trainees and users.
The IEFP classifies the initiative as an "exercise of Citizenship and Solidarity", which announces the National Championship of Professions that will take place at the Professional Training Center of Faro, from the 7th to the 10th of May.
There will be 240 qualified young people from 43 professions in competition, from all over the country and who were selected in the regional phase of the championship.
One of the goals is to select the best competitors who will, in October this year, represent Portugal in the European Championship of Professions, in Belgium, and in the World Championship of Professions, in Germany, in July 2013.
The concept of the Professions Championship aims to encourage the young population to obtain a professional qualification, develop a taste for work, valuing the social status of professions and professional training, boosting scientific and technological exchange leading to the improvement of methods and techniques organization and execution of work.
And, at the same time, it also aims to raise awareness of the role of professional training in the development of the individual, in the development of a more participative and more solidary Citizenship that leads to action for the benefit of others, especially the most vulnerable.
