“As Aves ea Lagoa dos Salgados” is the activity that Almargem will carry out in the municipality, as part of the third edition of the “Festa da Natureza”. The initiative will take place on May 13th and aims to contribute to public awareness of the protection and conservation of the environment.
Albufeira is one of the eight Algarve councils to host the "2012 Nature Festival", which will take place on May 12th and 13th, together with Vila do Bispo, Lagoa, Silves, Loule, Faro, Tavira and Alcoutim.
Field trips for fauna and flora observation, nature interpretation and kayak courses, exhibitions and hiking tours will be available to everyone free of charge.
In Albufeira, participants will be invited to observe and identify the birds that live in Lagoa dos Salgados, becoming aware of the importance of this wetland for the survival of many species.
The activity will take place on May 13, between 9:30 am and 12:30 pm, with a meeting point in the parking lot of Praia dos Salgados.
Participants must bring binoculars, field guides, comfortable clothing and water.

The Nature Festival is promoted in Portugal by Almargem – Association for the Defense of the Cultural and Environmental Heritage of the Algarve - but has French roots.
“Fête de la Nature” has been in existence for five years in France and has spread to several countries.
