Tomorrow, April 18, at 15:00 pm, departing from the local Tourism Office, Serpa City Council promotes a guided tour of the Intra-Muros Nucleus – classified as a Set of Public Interest -, which also includes access to the Clock Tower .

Registration for the guided tour must be addressed to [email protected] or contact the Heritage Office (284 540 100).

The Serpa municipality is once again associated with the International Day of Monuments and Sites, which is celebrated tomorrow, and whose theme this year is “From World Heritage to Local Heritage: protecting and managing change”.

The International Day of Monuments and Sites was created by the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) on April 18, 1982 and approved by UNESCO the following year, with the aim of raising public awareness of the diversity and vulnerability of cultural heritage , as well as for the effort involved in its protection and conservation.

With the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the UNESCO World Heritage Convention, the “World Heritage List” was created and, for this reason, the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) chose World Heritage as the theme of celebration in 2012, where the Institute for the Management of Architectural and Archaeological Heritage (IGESPAR) links to Local Heritage.
