Mikko Hirvonen and Jarmo Lehtinen (Citroen DS 3 WRC) were disqualified from this edition of the Vodafone Rally de Portugal, after having finished the race, on Sunday, in the first position at the end of the 22 qualifying rounds.

The decision of the Sport Stewards followed the report presented by the Technical Stewards who detected situations that did not comply with the Citroen DS 3 WRC homologation form. The content of the statement from the Sport Stewards is as follows:

“The commissioners after their meeting decided:

1. That the clutch mounted on car No. 2 does not comply with Approval Form A5733 and therefore exclude car number 2 from event classification.

2. That the turbo (turbine) mounted on car #2 does not seem to conform. However, the Commissioners suspend the decision in this matter and ask the FIA Technical Delegate to carry out a more detailed examination, and await this report for a future decision.

It is recalled that the competitor has the right to appeal».

Based on this decision, a new ranking was published, in which Mads Ostberg and Jonas Andersson (Ford Fiesta WRC) were declared winners.

However, this classification was suspended, as the French brand decided to appeal the decision of the Commissioners of Sport.
