Quorum Ballet will perform at the Cine-Teatro Louletano, on April 28 (21:30 pm) and April 29 (17:30 pm) to present the show “Correr o Fado”, as part of the World Dance Day celebrations.

«Fado, the most representative form of expression of Portuguese traditional culture. In a multiplicity of movements, sounds, sensations and feelings, the dancers transmit to us with their art, extreme beauty, unsurpassed sensitivity and apparent ease, everything that our senses perceive and our hearts grasp. The nostalgic and melancholic connotation that Fado carries with it is demystified», explain those responsible for the show.

Quorum Ballet is a contemporary dance company with a repertoire that presents a high level of demand and quality in its performances.

It was founded in 2005 by its artistic director, choreographer and dancer Daniel Cardoso who, without any subsidy in the first three years, managed to achieve the goal of creating a recognized Contemporary Dance company in Portugal.

With a well-defined and permanent structure, Quorum Ballet is currently made up of eight dancers, production, technical and administrative team.

The structure is currently subsidized by the Ministry of Culture and the General Directorate of Arts. In October 2007, in partnership with the non-profit association AQK Associação Quorum Cultural and the Municipality of Amadora, it opens the Quorum Academy at Recreios da Amadora, with classes open to children, young people and adults.

The rigor and professionalism motivated new invitations from theaters and institutions. The Company has already presented several pieces by Daniel Cardoso and collaborated with renowned guest choreographers. To date, 18 productions have been presented, which also include choreographic works for children and young people.

Quorum Ballet has presented its work in numerous cities nationwide. Internationally, the Company has presented its work in Denmark, the United States, Poland (tour to three cities), Singapore, China and Cyprus.

International press reaction has been very positive, considering Quorum Ballet a “six-star” dance company. The Company's recognition internationally has also been consolidated through the reviews published in various newspapers and magazines, especially Dance Europe Magazine.

Quorum Ballet has also developed a partnership with the Vaganova Academy (School of Kirov Ballet) of Sam Petersburg with the presentation of the program entitled “From Classical Ballet to Contemporary”, a program that toured nationally during 2009.

In 2009, Quorum Ballet received the award for best Contemporary Dance Company at the first edition of the Portugal Dance Awards and, in August 2011, was considered (equally) the best company on stage at the 14th Edition of the Festival de Castilla y Léon (Spain), with the show “Correr o Fado”

Tickets for the show in Loulé cost 10 euros.
