Lara Schenker, from the University of Algarve, won 3rd place in the women's competition of the University National Bodyboard Championship, whose first stage took place last weekend, March 31st and April 1st, at Praia da Cordoama, Vila of the Bishop.

In the women's competition, who climbed the highest place on the podium was the athlete from the University of Évora Mariana Machado.

Dominating the final heat, Mariana gave no chance to the opponents and, with the result, started defending the title won last year.

In second and third positions were Ana Almeida, from the Student Association of the Faculty of Human Motricity, and Lara Schenker representing the in-house team, the Academic Association of the University of Algarve.

The big winner in the men's category was the representative athlete of the Instituto Superior Técnico Student Association, Daniel Fonseca. In second place, was the athlete from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Francisco Constantino. Finishing the podium was António Cruz, from the University of Porto.

Highlight also for the five male athletes from the University of Algarve, who improve the rankings of the previous year, having been very close to the top of the final table.

The organization of the Academic Association of the University of Algarve had the support of the Academy of Bodyboard of Faro and the Southeast Association. The competition had the participation of 61 athletes, who were divided by the two days of competition.

The competition continues in the seas of Matosinhos, at the end of May, organized by the Polytechnic Institute of Porto.
