If you see a giant chameleon, on a poster full of color on a roadside billboard, this is the poster for the 2012 edition of the Academic Week of the University of Algarve. This Wednesday, the Academic Association of the University of the Algarve (AAUAlg) kicked off the campaign to publicize the event, which this year will have communication material in larger formats than usual, losing, in return, the usual pasted posters on the wall.

This unprecedented campaign is the result of agreements with various entities, which logistically support the event with space in their own advertising media.

This is the case of the billboard of the Chamber of Faro, where today the first canvas advertising the party of university students in the Algarve was mounted, but also of spaces provided by the municipalities of Lagos, Monchique and Loulé and by the Regional Tourism Authority of the Algarve.

“In terms of advertising, we have two 12-meter-by-4 billboards in Faro and others measuring 8 by 3 meters, 15 billboards from the Tourism Region spread across the Algarve. We will also be in areas that did not have coverage, such as Monchique, Tavira, Beja Aljustrel and Évora. In Alentejo we will have five more billboards this year», he told the Sul Informação Hugo Vieira, from AAUAlg. In the case of the larger format, it is the first time the SA organization has used it.

In a year of crisis, the organization chose to bet on billboards, which "have no cost" in terms of their rental. The usual posters pasted on the walls will not be seen this year. On the other hand, the advertisements with the complete SA 2012 poster will be spread on MUPI (Urban Furniture for Institutional Advertising) in the four municipalities that granted this type of support to AAUAlg.

“This year we managed to reduce the advertising budget considerably. We have all these supply structures, we are responsible for the production and placement», said Hugo Vieira. The advertising media that will be used this year also provide other guarantees. «We are certain that they will stay there until May 12th and that no one will pull it out the day after we put it on», illustrated Hugo Vieira.
