Alvor and Mexilhoeira Grande came forward with good proposals for the Participatory Budget of Portimão

More than three dozen citizens participated actively in the assemblies held at the Alvor Community Center and at the Mexilhoeira Grande Parish Council, contributing with 11 proposals to improve the quality of life in the municipality of Portimão.

From these two high moments of democratic experience, the participants presented, discussed and scored their proposals and, in an authentic group dynamic, came up with 11 suggestions.

In Alvor, the approved proposals were: acquisition of urban furniture for the development of activities of micro companies related to the creative industries, incubator of micro companies of creative and traditional arts, correction of the water line in the road section of Rua da Dourada Nascente (Alvor), implementation of a holiday camp at the Montes de Alvor football field, road connection between Rua da Igreja and the Rotunda of Rua Serpa Pinto, in Alvor; execution of a roundabout at Igreja da Penina, and, finally, execution of a roundabout on Alvor road, next to Hospital Particular.

As for Mexilhoeira Grande, these were the proposals: creation of a children's and geriatric park in the parish of Mexilhoeira Grande, remodeling of the connecting road between Mexilhoeira Grande and Figueira – pedestrian access – priority, urban rehabilitation – arts in the streets – artistic intervention , and, finally, the requalification of the Montes de Cima School.

All proposals submitted under the Participatory Budget will be subject to technical analysis, which will take place between May 1 and July 31, during which the formulation of the respective projects to be put to the vote will also take place, as well as the complaint and response to questions that are asked by the interested parties.

At a later stage, which runs from September 1st to September 30th, the investment projects resulting from the proposals submitted will be subject to a vote by the citizens.

The fourth and last participatory assembly is scheduled for April 25 in the main hall of the Municipality of Portimão, starting at 17 pm, being one of the highlights of the celebrations that celebrate freedom and democracy.

To participate, interested parties must register with the Parish Council of Portimão or at the assembly itself before the start of the work, with the possibility of doing so through the website of the process, at: http://participa.cm-portimao.pt/.

Until April 30, citizens can also submit concrete proposals for the future of Portimão via the internet, using the same website, which should not exceed 200 thousand euros each, for a global total of one million euros.

 

All proposals are welcome.

 

This is a unique opportunity for people to share what they would like to see carried out, what their ideas, projects or ambitions are to achieve in their land of affection, and participation can be done individually or in representation of an association.

The proposals must be objective, having as scope the territory of the municipality of Portimão and referring to the areas of competence of the City Council: Urbanism; Urban Rehabilitation; Housing; Public Spaces and Green Spaces; Environmental Protection and Energy; Sanitation and Urban Hygiene; Road Infrastructure, Mobility and Traffic; Citizens' Security; Tourism, Trade and Economic Promotion; Education and Youth; Sport; Social action; Culture; Administrative Modernization.

Citizens aged 18 or over and who are related to the municipality, whether residents, students or workers, can participate, as well as representatives of the associative movement, the business community and other civil society organizations.
