24 citizens presented proposals at the first meeting of the Participatory Budget of Portimão

Alteration of the roundabout on Avenida Paul Harris, picnic park in the Ladeira do Vau area, creation of a neighborhood youth orchestra, creation of community gardens, innovation in the rural area of ​​Alfarrobeiras, with redevelopment of roads and streets, creation of a mural painted in the Cardosas tunnel, creation of accessibility ramps at the Vai and Vem stops and shading and beautification of the Alameda da Praça da República.

These were the eight proposals chosen on Friday, the 30th, at the first participatory assembly referring to the Participatory Budget for 2013, which took place in the premises of the local Parish Council.

The initiative, classified by the Municipality of Portimão as a "high moment of democratic experience", had the active participation of 24 citizens who, for two hours and in a group dynamic, presented, discussed and scored their proposals. two more scored per table will be entered in the Participatory Budget, for subsequent technical analysis.

The first eight proposals and all those submitted under the Participatory Budget will be subject to technical analysis, which will take place between May 1 and July 31, during which the respective projects will also be formulated for voting, as well as the complaint and the answer to questions that are raised by the interested parties.

At a later stage, which runs from September 1st to September 30th, the investment projects resulting from the proposals submitted will be subject to a vote by the citizens.

 

Upcoming participatory assemblies

 

The next participatory assembly is scheduled for April 13 and will take place at the Alvor Community Center, followed by the third assembly at the Clube de Instrução e Recreio Mexilhoeirense on April 16, while the last will take place on April 25 in the main hall of the Chamber Municipality of Portimão, always from 18:30 pm.

To participate in participatory assemblies, interested parties must register with the parish councils in the area of ​​residence or at the assembly itself before the start of work, with the possibility of doing so through the process' website: http://participa.cm-portimao.pt/.

Until April 30, citizens can also submit concrete proposals for the future of Portimão via the internet, using the same website, which should not exceed 200 thousand euros each, for a global total of one million euros.

This is a unique opportunity for people to share what they would like to see carried out, what their ideas, projects or ambitions are to achieve in their land of affection, and participation can be done individually or in representation of an association.

The proposals must be objective, having as scope the territory of the municipality of Portimão and referring to the areas of competence of the City Council: Urbanism; Urban Rehabilitation; Housing; Public Spaces and Green Spaces; Environmental Protection and Energy; Sanitation and Urban Hygiene; Road Infrastructure, Mobility and Traffic; Citizens' Security; Tourism, Trade and Economic Promotion; Education and Youth; Sport; Social action; Culture; Administrative Modernization.

 

Citizens aged 18 or over and who are related to the municipality, whether residents, students or workers, can participate, as well as representatives of the associative movement, the business community and other civil society organizations.
