The University of Algarve will hold a seminar on “Tourism and Cultural and Creative Industries in the Algarve', from 9:00 am on March 16, at the Auditorium of the Superior School of Management, Hotel and Tourism, in Campus da Penha, in Faro.

This initiative, which takes place within the scope of the KnowInG project, aims to reflect on the development and state of Tourism and Culture and understand whether the region is growing in a sustainable, inclusive and creative way.

The first part of the seminar will focus on action strategies, support programs and the role of the university in these sectors. In this panel, communications will be made by Almeida Pires (Vice-President of Algarve Tourism), Dália Paulo (Director of the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve) and professors Paulo Águas (Director of the Superior School of Management, Hotel and Tourism/UAlg ) and Cláudia Henriques (Director of the Master in Tourism and Urban Cultures).

The second part will include cases of projects, considered as good practices in entrepreneurship and connection to regional development, resulting from co-financing programs and partnerships between different local agents.

Communications will be made about the TASA Project, the Querença Project and the Via Algarviana Project, which illustrate some regional successes in the areas of tourism, culture, creativity, innovation and sustainability.

On the occasion, the contest «Your creativity is our future» will also be announced, an activity of the KnowInG project that aims to involve and bring the region's community closer together, through an innovative challenge: the creation of a videogame script.

This competition is also intended to project and promote the Algarve region as a tourist-cultural destination of excellence, nationally and internationally.
