The Forecast Center of the Meteorology Institute forecasts for the next few days the continuation of high maximum temperature values for the season, a situation that should continue until the next 14th, in the majority of the territory, extending until the 15th in the northern region .
It is expected that, during this period, the maximum air temperature values will be above 23ºC in practically the entire continental territory, with the exception of the Algarve coast.
Particular emphasis on the central coastal region, where temperatures of 25-26°C in Santarém and Leiria are forecast for tomorrow, and on the 14th, temperatures of 28°C in Santarém, 27°C in Setúbal and 26°C in Lisbon.
Following high temperature forecasts, the risk of fire for these days will be equally high, particularly in the interior of the central region.
However, from the 15th until the end of the week, an alteration in the meteorological situation is expected, with the approach of a depression and later of a frontal surface to affect the territory of the continent.
With this change in the weather, the IM Forecast Center predicts an increase in cloudiness in the territory and admits the possibility of showers and thunderstorms on the 15th and 16th, particularly in the central and southern region, with a decrease in Maximum temperature.
Towards the end of the week, on the 17th and 18th, it is expected that precipitation will mainly affect the northern regions of the Montejunto-Estrela mountain system.
Notwithstanding the forecast of precipitation for this period, the expected values will not be sufficient to significantly alleviate the weather drought situation, as a return to dry weather at the beginning of next week is admitted.
