The first stage of the amateur paddle circuit – Resort Padel Tour 2012 – will take place on March 31 and April 1, at Martinhal Beach Resort, in Sagres, and will bring together around 20 male and 12 female pairs.
The event, comprising three stages, marks the beginning of the semi-competitive amateur paddle season, which takes place in high-quality tourist resorts.
In June and September, the second and third stage will be held at Open Village Sports, in Guimarães, and at Bom Sucesso Resort in Óbidos, respectively.
The tournament is open to all players, of all game levels and sports, whether male, female or mixed pairs. Registration for the tournament is open until March 29 and can be done by email: joao @masterpadel.com.pt.
Padel is a racket sport, played in pairs (male, female or mixed), with balls and rules similar to those of tennis. The court is approximately half of a tennis court, with walls at the tops and sides.
Very popular in Spain, this sport that is easy to learn and practicable by people of all ages, has approximately 3.000 practitioners in Portugal.
Organized by the company Master Padel, the initiative has the support of the Municipality of Vila do Bispo.
