Louis van Gaal, former player and former coach of the Dutch National Team, confirmed his presence at the V edition of TIFAA – International Adapted Football and Athletics Tournament, to be held on March 17, at the Albufeira Municipal Stadium.

Van Gaal will thus associate his name to this event, which aims to promote the participation of all people with physical and mental disabilities, in Adapted Sports Activity. Van Gaal will kick off the Tournament at 9:30 am.

The Dutch media has coached some of the best clubs in the world, including Bayern Munich, Ajax Amsterdam, FC Barcelona and AZ Alkmaar. The former Netherlands national is currently the sporting director of Ajax Amsterdam.

Now in its 5th edition, this event is the result of a partnership between APEXA, the Municipality of Albufeira, and two institutions in Amersfoort, Netherlands, which are dedicated to promoting the practice of sports for people with disabilities: the Albufoort Foundation and ROC Midden Nederland (University in the Netherlands).

TIFAA 2012 will have the presence of 600 participants, including Portuguese and Dutch teams. This year, alongside football, athletics will also be present with three competitions.

The objectives are to promote participation in an Adapted Sports Activity and provide people with physical and mental disabilities the opportunity to socialize with people from other parts of the country and with teams of other nationalities.

TIFAA is the biggest sporting event of this scope held in Portugal.
