The Earth has a magnetic field that guides our compasses, but this field has changed throughout the Planet's history. Want to know how, when and why? Or how does science use magnetism to study the great events in Earth's history, from the extinction of some species to tsunamis?

The answers will be given by Eric Font, researcher at Instituto D. Luís, in Lisbon, and guest of the next Café Oceano, which takes place at 18:30 on March 22, at Pátio de Letras, in Faro.

Café Oceano is a space for informal discussion on issues related to the ocean, which was born from an original idea by Oceanography students from the former Faculty of Sea and Environmental Sciences (FCMA) and by Professor Cristina Veiga Pires, who is also a professor at that faculty. and currently deputy director of the Faculty of Science and Technology at UAlg.

This get-together takes place once a month, in a café-bar in Faro.

To participate, you don't need to be an expert, just curiosity and interest in the matters under discussion.

The panel of experts, responsible for the monthly presentation of each topic, and the moderation of the discussion, ensured by Cristina Veiga Pires, encourage the participation of the entire population.
