The Landscape and Community International Congress, under the theme “Design, Management and Public Participation”, will take place on March 8th and 9th, at the University of Algarve, at the Gambelas Campus, in Faro.

The Congress aims to optimize the relationship between the landscape and its resources, its design, its management and the communities that experience it, from a perspective of sustainability.

It will last for two days and will include the presence of national and foreign experts in matters of land use planning, the creation of new productive landscapes integrated into urban areas and the correct development and enhancement of protected landscapes.

The opening session will be chaired by Pedro Afonso Paulo, Secretary of State for the Environment and Spatial Planning, with the presence of José Macário Correia, president of the Chamber of Faro, and João Guerreiro, rector of the University of Algarve, among others.

«New Visions and New Challenges for the Landscape», «Tourism as a Dynamizer of Landscape and Communities» and «Participated Landscape Management» are the themes to be debated in the various panels of the first day, moderated by Fernando Pessoa, Carla Almeida and Gonçalo Gomes, respectively.

The program on the 8th ends with a round table, moderated by António Covas, on the theme «Landscape as Competitive Value».

The morning of the second day of the Landscape and Community International Congress: Design, Management and Public Participation will be dedicated to Workshops, which will take place in three parallel sessions.

These sessions will present, in a practical and unprecedented way, the paths and national and international success stories for the use of Landscape Heritage as a competitive tool. The afternoon is reserved for Thematic Visits guided by the trainers.
