A depression located to the southwest of the continent will influence the weather in mainland Portugal in the next few days, with rain expected to last for a few days.

The Forecast Center of the Meteorology Institute predicted from the end of this afternoon an increase in cloudiness and the probability of occurrence of showers, which could be hail and accompanied by thunderstorms, particularly in the Algarve and Baixo Alentejo. At least in the Western Algarve the rain started in the middle of the afternoon.

IM predicts that this situation of instability, with showers, sometimes heavy and accompanied by hail and thunderstorm, will extend to the regions of Setúbal and Lisbon during the early morning and morning of the 30th, Friday.

This situation should continue throughout the day due to the permanence of this depression off Sines.

For these two days, the wind will blow from the east, moderate to strong, particularly in the Algarve and Baixo Alentejo and in the highlands.

For Saturday, the 31st, the forecast points to the continuation of unstable conditions, with the occurrence of showers, sometimes heavy, accompanied by hail and thunderstorm, in the central and southern regions.

For the northern region an increase in cloudiness is expected, however there is still no forecast of precipitation occurrence.

On Sunday, the rainfall regime will extend to the entire continental territory.

A decrease in temperature is expected for these days, particularly the maximum.

For Monday and Tuesday, the IM predicts the continuation of precipitation throughout the territory.

Taking into account the expected strong instability situation, the IM has already issued a yellow warning of precipitation for the districts of Faro, Beja, Setúbal and Lisbon.

Given the characteristics of this situation, which will be monitored by the weather analysis and forecast centre, it is suggested to monitor its evolution and the warnings issued by IM on its Portal.
