The Vila Real de Santo António City Council and the League of Friends of Galeria Manuel Cabanas will celebrate, next weekend, the 110th anniversary of the birth of master Manuel Cabanas, activist, benefactor and artist, born in Vila Nova de Cacela (VRSA ).
The celebrations begin on Friday 10th, at 17:30 pm, in the Vicente Campinas Municipal Library Auditorium, with the presentation of the book by Joaquim Vairinhos, «Coisas do Coração».
The session will be attended by the vice-president of the Municipality of Vila Real de Santo António, José Carlos Barros, who will also ensure the opening speech of the celebrations.
On Saturday 11th, the program begins with a trip to the cemetery of Cacela. The highlight will be the inauguration of «Espaço Manuel Cabanas», in the Municipal Historical Archive, at 11:00 am, followed by a musical moment with «In Tento Trio», a project developed by Fernando Pessanha, pianist and composer who has been working on perform live with bassist Pedro Reis and drummer João Melro.
Half an hour later, the philatelic exhibition will be inaugurated, organized by the Collecting Section of the Humanitarian Association of Voluntary Firefighters of VRSA, where the stamp, stamp, postcard, envelope and pin produced to mark the event will be presented.
The exhibition will last until the 18th, at the fire department, and is one of 28 events that the Philatelic Federation's philatelic clubs have planned for 2012.
At 11:45 am, the website of the Liga dos Amigos do Mestre Manuel Cabanas will be presented, followed at noon by a lecture by Professor António Valdemar, under the theme «Joaquim Rebocho, an Algarve painter of the XNUMXth century».
