Alcoutim, Faro, Lagoa, Tavira and Portimão will stage concerts by Orquestra do Algarve during the month of March. Another Promenade Concert, in Faro and Lagoa, the continuation of the Chamber Music Cycle in various places in the region and the closing of the English Music Cycle, at the University of Algarve and at the Teatro Municipal de Portimão.

On the first Saturday of the month, John Avery directs the Orquestra do Algarve at the Igreja Matriz de Giões, in Alcoutim. The repertoire includes works by Philip Lane, William Walton, John Rutter, Percy Grainger, Felix Mendelssohn, Edward Elgar and Karl Jenkins.

On March 6th, the second Pedagogical Concert of the Cycle 2012 will take place, as usual at Teatro das Figuras, in Faro. In the afternoon, there will again be a place for the project “The School receives OA”, in several schools in the region.

The third concert of the Promenade Concerts Cycle will center on a family that can be seen at the back of the stage, behind all the suits – the percussion family. The concerts, directed by João Tiago Santos, are scheduled for March 18, at Teatro das Figuras, in Faro, and in the Municipal Auditorium of Lagoa.

The Orquestra do Algarve presents itself in a chamber music ensemble format at the Igreja do Carmo de Tavira and at the Municipal Museum of Faro, on the 24th of March, and the following day, at Igreja do Colégio, in Portimão. The concerts are part of the Chamber Music Cycle and are free to enter.

English music is once again in the spotlight on the last weekend of March, first at the University of Algarve, on the 30th, and, on the following day, on the 31st, at the Municipal Theater of Portimão – TEMPO, thus marking the end of the cycle , started last January.

The repertoire includes pieces by some of the most prestigious British composers, with the musical direction being in charge of Pedro Neves, Principal Conductor of the Orquestra do Algarve.
