The Solidarity Store of the Academic Association of the University of Algarve opens on Thursday, February 23, at 11 am, at the Campus de Gambelas (Faro), with the AAUALG Professional Opportunities Office.

At the AAUALG Solidarity Store, second-hand items of clothing, school material and academic clothing can be purchased, also second-hand, as well as items made from recycled material, all at reduced prices.

The funds obtained through the sale of these items will revert to needy students at UAlg.

Another way to contribute to this solidarity project is by donating clothes, school material, used academic clothes and recyclable material (coffee capsules, caps,…) to the Solidarity Store, which will be responsible for organizing, transforming and/or selling the item or assigning it directly to needy students.

With the opening of the Solidarity Store, the Academic Association will start its Solidarity Year AUALG, thus demonstrating its concern in relation to the solidarity aspect throughout the year and in almost all the events it holds. One of the examples is project «tomorrow you», already released.

With the opening of this Solidarity Store, a project that had already come from the previous direction, the Academic Association of the University of Algarve claims to be continuing «its struggle to improve the quality of life of the most needy academic population, combating social exclusion and promoting solidarity ».

During the inauguration of the Store, there will be an intervention by Pedro Barros, president of the General Management of AAUALG, explaining the entire concept of the Solidarity Year.
