Alcoutim City Council supported, with around 7.000 euros, the construction of a new pavilion by Grito d'Alegria, in the village of Giões, which was already the scene of the New Year's Eve celebration.
It was a way for the municipality to recognize the «great work developed by Grito d'Alegria, which has mobilized the local population and attracted visitors to the county».
The Grito d'Alegria Association was created three years ago with the mission of energizing the cultural and social life of the municipality of Alcoutim, particularly in the village of Giões, where they have their headquarters.
With the increase in the number of members and the growing adhesion to the activities carried out, the association needed to expand the space of its headquarters, installed in the old primary school in the village and already with improvements supported by the municipality.
