The Bishop of Algarve is carrying out a pastoral visit to the parishes of Luz, Barão de São João, Bensafrim and Santa Maria de Lagos.
This pastoral visit to the municipality of Lagos, which runs until the 12th of February, began in the parish of Luz, and included several meetings with officials and users of civil and social solidarity institutions, namely, hearing groups, catechists, association of parents, schools and NECI – Nucleus for the Education of Unadapted Children.
Between the 3rd and the 7th, D. Manuel Quintas will be present in the parish of Bensafrim, which includes visits to schools, kindergartens, homes, meetings with children attending catechesis and respective catechists, as well as the celebration of Eucharist.
On the 5th, the visit to Barão de S. João is also scheduled, with the celebration of the Eucharist in this parish.
The pastoral action continues, between the 08th and 12th, in the parish of Santa Maria, with the visit to, among other institutions, three primary and secondary schools as well as the Lagos Volunteer Firefighters.
The visit will end on February 12 (Sunday) with two Eucharists, in Luz and in Santa Maria Church, scheduled for 9:30 am and 11:30 am, respectively.
The Code of Canon Law establishes that bishops are obliged to visit the entire diocese every five years, and may, in case of need, delegate this task to the coadjutor or auxiliary prelate, or even to a priest.
