The tradition of the 1st bath of the year was fulfilled once again at Praia do Pintadinho, in Ferragudo. On the 1st of January, around 11 am, under a blazing sun but with some cold – after all, it's not summer! -, dozens of people accepted the challenge and went for their first dive of the year.
Before, the doctor Piçarra Ramos, who was highly responsible and enthusiastic about this tradition, had the brave bathers do some warm-up exercises.
Then, the group of about ten and a half bathers, with people of all ages, took a dip in the cold waters of Praia do Pintadinho.
Outside, much more dressed up, there were dozens of other people, who didn't want to risk the 1st swim of the year, but even so didn't miss the excitement, which even included a contest for the best swimsuit.
This initiative is the result of the support given, since the beginning, to the idea of doctor Piçarra Ramos by various entities, such as Rádio Lagoa and the Parish Council of Ferragudo.
