The 2012 Promenade Concerts Cycle is back to provide good times with the family. The first concert is next Sunday, January 22, first at Teatro das Figuras, in Faro, at 12:00 pm, and then, at the Municipal Auditorium of Lagoa, at 16:30 pm.
Under the motto “Famílias em Concerto”, the new cycle proposes the realization of five programs that will cover and reveal the following instrumental families: strings, wood, brass, percussion and finally the orchestral “tutti”, that is, the complete orchestra.
The first concert is dedicated to the brass section. In this concert, the public will have the opportunity to hear the Orquestra do Algarve performing pieces by LV Beethoven, Albrechtsberger, Mozart, Hummel and Anne Victorino d'Almeida, with the participation of trombonist Carlos Reinaldo Guerreiro (who also conducts the concert), Todd Sheldrick (horn) and João Mogo (trumpet).
The new cycle has the already usual presence of the Batuta mascot, to welcome the little ones. As in previous years, there will also be space for pastimes, to be held throughout the cycle, in which the public can compete by collecting stickers given in each concert and filling in a booklet, given at the first concert. In Faro, the prize includes a “Musical Training Package” (offer for registration + three monthly tuition fees for an instrument of your choice – guitar, bass, drums and piano), with the support of the Live Music store (Musical Instruments, Sound and Live Stage) . In Lagoa, the prize consists of an offer to register at the Lagoa Music Conservatory, with the support of the local authority.
With narration and presentation by Susana Paixão, the Promenade Concerts Cycle is an initiative of Orquestra do Algarve, sponsored by Caixa Geral de Depósitos and the support of Teatro Municipal de Faro and the City Council of Lagoa.
