The program for the appreciation of musical traditions “Charolas, the Force of Tradition” returns to the streets of São Brás de Alportel to fulfill tradition and celebrate the birth of the God Child and a new year.
On Twelfth Night, January 6, at 21 pm, the Cine-Teatro São Brás will once again stage another Encounter of Charolas de São Brás, now in its 00th edition, an annual meeting, organized by Associação Cultural Sambrasense, with the support of the Municipality and Parish Council of São Brás de Alportel, which renews the musical traditions of the Algarve year after year, with the presence of groups from all over the region.
In this year's edition, the São Brás Charolas Meeting counts on the participation of five different groups of charolas: Grupo Searas do Monte, Charola of the Rancho Folclórica da Associação Nexense, Charola de Estoi – Aldeia Branca, Charola da Casa do Povo da Conceição de Tavira and Charola from Grupo Desportivo e Cultural de Machados. This free-entry show lasts about 90 minutes.
The Force of Tradition continues at the Municipal Market, on the morning of the 7th, Saturday, with a spectacle through which various charolas from the county and region parade, bringing to the community the hope of a good new year.
And out in the afternoon, with castanets at the ready, accompanied by accordion and cavaquinho, among various instruments that make up these musical groups, the charolais continue their journey, from 15 pm onwards, taking the power of tradition all over the county, on a tour of charolas .
The “Charolas, the Strength of Tradition” program ends on Sunday, the 8th, with a special presentation at the Festive Eucharist, in the Santa Casa da Misericórdia Party Room, at 15 pm. This performance, through the charolais of the municipality, intends to cheer the users of this institution, leading them to relive the traditions of the Christmas season.
The Force of Tradition is an initiative of the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel, with the collaboration of local associations and groups and the Parish of São Brás de Alportel.
